The engine probably starts because gas enters the cylinder when you press the primer bulb. When the primer bulb isn't working, it may be a problem with the bulb itself, with the fuel lines that feed fuel to the bulb or both. Based solely on my experience, I would state the percentage is at least 80 percent, and in the case of self-priming pumps I am sure the percentage is higher. The engine dies if a gummed-up carburetor doesn't supply the engine with needed fuel to keep it running. Sunday afternoon I was riding, had been for a couple of hours, quad running perfect. My father-in-law purchased one many months ago from a different store and his currently does the same thing. Thank you for signing up. I started a list of self priming pump field issues many years ago and noted that almost all of them break down to 10 fundamental areas. I ride my quad almost everyday, I have my own track. Sign-up not successful. Time for repair shop unless you are handy with lawn mowers. Replace a fuel line that's brittle or damaged. Suddenly it started to miss occasionally. Fuel lines become brittle over time and can crack or break. A purge bulb pushes or pulls fuel through the carburetor to purge air from the pump and metering section. Another fuel hose brings any unused fuel back into the tank. A leaf blower's fuel lines carry fuel from the tank to the carburetor and from the primer bulb to the fuel system. Most experts agree that the majority of centrifugal pump problems occur on the suction side of the pump.
